Lung Cancer Screening Study
The Lung Cancer Screening Study, commonly referred to as I-ELCAP, is a non-experimental, investigational research study that seeks to assess the effectiveness of using low-dose, non-contrast Computed Tomography (CT) chest imaging as a screening tool in evaluating early stage lung cancer in people at high risk. In 1992, a group of physicians from Cornell University Medical Center (now Weill Medical College of Cornell University) joined forces with specialists and lung cancer experts from around the world to develop a more accurate way to detect lung cancer in its earliest stage by using CT imaging. In 1993, the International Early Lung Cancer Action Program (I-ELCAP) was born. The mission of I-ELCAP is to achieve early diagnosis, treatment, and ultimate cure of lung cancer. WellStar is proud to be participating in this investigational study. Smoking AssistanceThinking About Quitting? Call the Georgia Tobacco Quit Line WellStar Cancer Research www.ielcap.org |
